Together with her husband, Tim, Jane McCarthy founded the McCarthy Family Foundation in 1998 in support of efforts designed to improve K-12 science education; HIV/AIDS research, education and direct services; assistance to homeless persons; and child abuse prevention and services for victims and families. She is Past President and currently serves as Secretary of the Foundation.

Additionally, Jane has served on the Boards of several local and regional foundations including Poway Center for the Performing Arts Foundation (Past President, Past Board Member), UCLA (Past Foundation Board Member, Past Chair of Planned Giving Committee, and Founding and Current Member of Women and Philanthropy at UCLA), and Project High Hopes (Board Member).  She is also an active member of San Diego Grantmakers and Funder’s Together to End Homelessness (FTEH) San Diego.
